dirk gently rewatch babyyyyy. i didn't realize until now that it's been 10 years since season 1 released, but honestly it adds to the mood. i also didn't realize until now how many supernatural actors are in this ??? anyways i love this show and i've been meaning to do a rewatch for so long
YAYYY EDGEHILL ALBUM !!! i already loved Doubletake, lol, 17 Hours, and I Can Be Your Dog (songs that released before the album itself) but now i get to love Drone Song, Love To Go, and Innocent :)!
was testing out the vinyl i just got at a local clothing swap i was part of (which i think im gonna write a blogpost abt! edit: i did)
coffeebugs' most recent album!! i listened to it while writing my review for iron lung and its rly nice! ive been listeing to alot more vocaloid/vsynth/etc recently so it was cool hearing gumi, teto, and miku on some tracks. everyone should go listen and buy the album rn !!!
Holy shit guys Markiplier made a movie. And it's a really good one at that!! I saw Iron Lung by myself (which I'd never done until this point) at the movie theatre after watching Mark's stream on Sunday and impulsively buying a ticket for myself. Something that caught be off guard was that since the movie was made completely independently, there were no production logos, and the movie just started straight after the previews with no warning — I honestly thought for a second that it was just another preview lmao — though of course that's not a critique, just something that I had never experienced until now. I'll leave my more spoiler-y opinions for the designated spoiler section, but I'll just say this: this movie looks fantastic. The colourgrading is nice (especially the contrast!!), the framing is wonderful, I LOVED seeing practical effects, the digital effects weren't egregious, and GOD the set and costumes. It was also nice to see Mark's acting again! I watched the Edge of Sleep show when it came out, and it was really fun seeing Mark act in something that wasn't Warfstache or A Date with Markiplier — though those are also great in their own regard. I'd recommend anyone interested in horror should check this movie out, and I think it's best watched with as little prior knowledge as possible. I went into Iron Lung basically blind — anything I knew beforehand had come from the teaser and subsequent trailer — and I loved being suprised over and over again. That being said, I do wanna talk about some spoilers, so if you've already seen the movie (or don't mind being spoiled), then read ahead!
Okay — spoiler time! First off, it was pretty shocking hearing Simon's name for the first time. I fully expected him to be called "Convict" the whole movie, though I'm glad he wasn't. I feel like knowing his name really makes him feel more realised, and it definitely helps when feeling for him — though honestly, he didn't need too much help in that regard, with everything that happens to him in (and out of) the movie. I've seen people make references to Laika the dog and the "patron saint of one-way trips" when talking about Simon, and god that really fits. While Iron Lung's themes are pretty simple, they hit so hard. One nitpick I have with the movie is that the lore of Iron Lung and Simon's backstory are a bit too vague to understand at times — but honestly, I can pretty easily excuse that and say that the air of mystery just adds to the atmosphere. And as someone who's focus is on characters and theming, plot doesn't matter too much to me anyways. All in all, very good movie, will definitely watch again!
YAYYY NEW ANNABELLE DINDA ALBUM !!!
burt hummel for president
holy shit???
my sister got me to start watching glee. why do i feel maternal for kurt hummel
god. this musical is just so fucking good
cas and hannah should've gay kissed
cas is rly just going through it
Very good!! I think Glass Onion is still my favourite, but that doesn't change the fact that this was amazing. The lighting and framing were both very very nice, and the settings and costumes were pretty good! Very fun to see a bunch of actors I recognize in roles I'm not used to seeing them in — it was so weird to see Andrew Scott playing an American, but honestly, I got used to it pretty quickly. Daniel Craig was a highlight as always — I loved seeing a different side to Benoit Blanc that we hadn't seen in the first 2 movies. As someone who wasn't raised in any religion — I've had religion surrounding me for most of my life, but only in very surface-level ways — I'm probably missing out on a different side to this movie that people who are more knowledgeable of Catholicism are seeing. Though, I have heard from some people online that the Catholicism this movie portrays is an almost bastardisation of "true" Catholicism — but as I said, I'm not an expert when it comes to religiom, so I won't really get into it. I do have some small nitpicks — that are in the spoiler section below — but all in all, a very good movie!
OKAY! So, while I did enjoy this movie, I do have some nitpicks that I just have to say — it would feel dishonest not to. Firstly being that I felt like every character other than Benoit, Jud, Martha, and Wick fell a bit flat for me. I found them all very entertaining, and they were all played beautifully, but I don't think they were quite the "star ensemble" that the last 2 movies had. Speaking of characters, I hated Geraldine. I feel a bit bad for it, but I really do. I don't like her actresss, Mila Kunas, which probably bled into her character. I have a few more nitpicks I can't quite put into words, but I honestly think I'll they'll smooth out over time.
destiel sex scene...
new cavetown album !!!!! i actually havent been listening to his stuff lately, but this album is so good wtf. its hard to pick a favourite song cause every track is a banger, but sailboat ft. chloe moriondo goes so insanely hard that it might earn the title. also my laptop crashed the first time i tried logging this #transphobia
very fun to learn so much behind the scenes! also i love how much everyone on the show just adores steven lmao. i felt a little irked by them calling DID a superpower so many times, but honestly i got the sentiment, and im not gonna get offended on behalf of other ppl. they showed so many panels of jeff lemire and greg smallwood's run of the comics that i neeeeed to try reading it. my local library doesnt have any copies of it (rude,) so honestly i might just buy myself the first volume lmao.
god this show is just so good — i need them to make a second season already. im probably gonna rewatch it all again lmao.
THE FUCKING CHARACTERSSS!!!!!! this show lives and dies by its characters and it fucking thrives. AND OMGG JAKE...he is such a good fucking cliffhanger, its criminal theres no second season (yet, hopefully) where they can resolve that!! i adore layla (as ive said a million times at this point lmao) and i loveeee her as scarlet scarab! i remembered she got to be scarlet scarab, but i totally forgot she became tawaret's (temporary?) avatar!! i also love tawaret so so much, and i love how shes foreshadowed in the first episode. actually back to jake: i wonder, if they DO end up making another season, will he have a suit? and what would it even look like?? i feel like it could be something similar to steven's mr. knight suit, but you wouldnt want to make them too similar and then have marc's suit seem out of place. i wonder if production already thought of what it could look like...actually i also wonder if any fans have made their own designs for it? honestly, maybe jake wouldnt even have a suit! it could be pretty cool if he was just in plain clothes the whole time. anyways i love this show, and i need to look at 10 million pieces of fanart on tumblr
i dont even know what i can say except i loved the way it was written and i definitely need to watch the movie now. i was reading a library copy so maybe i can get my own copy
one ep left!
godddd i forgot how heavy this ep is, fully had to look away from the screen for a few parts. and goddd is oscar issac such a good actor. kinda cliche to say but i almost forgot marc and steven are played by the same guy lmao. anyways: amazing episode, im so sad now, hopefully next ep will heal me! also very excited to see layla again !!!!!!!
GOD this show has such good characters
I FORGOT ABT THE ASYLUM !! the intro to it is so heartbreaking wtff. i got so emotional when marc and steven hugged cause omfg. i also totally forgot that marc was involved with the murder of layla's dad???? ethan hawke is so good at making me hate him btw. im so fucking excited for the next episode holy shit
i think i officially have moon knight brain worms. i told myself id only watch one ep a day, so ive been listening to man in the mirror on repeat to cope. and godddd i still adore layla sm
its fun having an ep focused on marc instead of steven! like i said before, i havent watched the show in like 3 years so i dont remember everything, but i DID (no pun intended) remember that there was a third alter. tho i cant remember anything abt them except that they tend to be more violent than marc and steven. its also very fun (if unintentional) that we first get hints about a third alter in the third episode of the show. btw i need to grind harrow into a fine dust
fave song is definitely fukouna girl. i heard a teto cover of it which is what made me listen to the whole album in the first place.
layla el-faouly, THE character of all time
steven's moon knight suit literally being a three piece suit 'cause he had no context for what layla was talking about and just imagined an actual suit — so fucking funny. i adore layla, i love how she doesnt know whats going on with steven/marc but still wants to help them. the scene in the attic(?) where shes trying to get steven to equip the suit means sm to me. also steven being so clearly autistic is sooooo important to me!!!!
stumbled upon Man in the Mirror by RIProducer and realized how much i wanted to rewatch moon knight. i havent watched any of it since it first came out (almost 4 years ago...terrifying) so its very fun experiencing so much of it again!! first thoughts: i adore steven sm and god this show is gorgeous. im trying to limit myself to one episode a day, so i should be logging the next ep tomorrow :P
OMGGGG claire how i adore you
rowena i love youuuuu
been listening on repeat
such a good fucking episode. that scene with sam and charlie talking abt being hunters is genuinely one of jared's best acted scenes
